Barcelona take down leaders Sociedad, Cristiano Ronaldo penalty costs Juventus draw with Atalanta

Barcelona got their second home win in five days but Antoine Griezmann’s awful luck in front of goal continues.

The French striker missed from two yards out when it would have been easier to score but the gaff didn’t stop Barca moving up to fifth in the table.

The visitors took the lead on 27 minutes through Willian Jose. The Brazilian striker turned the ball in from close range after being selflessly set-up by Portu.

But it lasted just four minutes as Jordi Alba restored parity. He doesn’t score many curling right-foot shots and this was one to savour as he ran onto a Pedri assist.

Real Sociedad were missing David Silva and top scorer Mikel Oyarzabal and failed to rise to the occasion, yet they had several chances to equalise, such as when Alexander Isak was thwarted

by a fine tackle from Barcelona’s Pedri then a great save by Marc-Andre ter Stegen from close range.

In other match, Cristiano Ronaldo had a penalty saved as Juventus were held to yet another Serie A draw in an entertaining match against Atalanta in Turin.

A stunning strike from Federico Chiesa, his first league goal in a Juventus shirt, put the Italian champions in front but Remo Freuler’s powerful effort crashed off the bar and into the net to earn the visitors a deserved point.

Ronaldo spurned a golden chance to put the hosts back in front minutes later, but his tame spot-kick was comfortably held by Pierluigi Gollini.

Also in other match, PSG defeated Lorient by 2-0 in Ligue 1.

Kylian Mbappe scored penalty in 51st minute to take the lead and Moise Kean scored second after 10 minute to give the victory.

Also, Bayern Munich defeated Wolfsburg by 2-1. Robert Lewandowski scored twice to grab victory.

10 men Arsenal and settled draw with Southampton with a goal each.
