Liverpool seal top Champions League group, Lukaku keeps Inter’s last-16 hopes alive

Caoimhin Kelleher made a crucial late save from Klass-Jan Huntelaar to earn Liverpool a win over Ajax and move the Reds into the Champions League knockouts.

Liverpool secured passage to the Champions League knockout stages as group winners as they earned a 1-0 win over Ajax.

A second-half goal from teenager Curtis Jones ensured the Reds would progress to the next stage on Wednesday, although academy prospect Caoimhin Kelleher, given his chance in goal, was required to make a stunning late save from Klaas Jan Huntelaar to protect the points at Anfield.

After failing to win any oftheir previous Group B games,Inter could still yet qualify forthe Champions Leagueknockout stages.

Inter kept their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League last-16 alive as Romelu Lukaku’s brace sealed a 3-2 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday.
