Cristiano Ronaldo double secured 2-0 win over Cagliari

Cristiano Ronaldo’s first-half double allowed Juventus to climb to second in the Serie A standings with a 2-0 win over Cagliari on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a first-half double to help Juventus return to winning ways with a routine 2-0 victory over Cagliari in their Serie A clash at the Allianz Stadium.

Ronaldo smashed home a low effort for his first goal and soon followed it up with a deft flick

After a relatively quiet international break for Ronaldo, with one goal in three games for Portugal, he scored in the 38th minute in Turin, finding the net for the fifth successive league match.

4 minutes later Ronaldo brilliantly struck at the far post to double his side’s advantage, taking him to eight league goals for the season, from just four starts.

The 35-year-old star's heroics saw him find the back of the net for a fifth straight league game

Andrea Pirlo’s side were unable to add to their tally but Ronaldo’s brace was enough as they moved into second place, albeit having played a game more than the majority of the teams around them.

Andrea Pirlo's side remain unbeaten in the league and have moved within one point of Napoli

The win enabled Andrea Pirlo’s unbeaten side to close the gap to leaders AC Milan to one point, with Milan playing at Napoli on Sunday. Cagliari stayed 11th.
