The remaining matches of the second round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the Asian Cup qualifiers in which Nepal is competing are scheduled to end in June 2021.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said on Wednesday that the remaining matches of the World Cup and Asian Cup qualifiers would end on June 15.
A meeting of the AFC’s competition committee has decided that the remaining matches of the World Cup qualifiers and Asian Cup qualifiers will be completed within 15 days.
Earlier, the scheduled games in October and November were postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The remaining matches of selection day 7 and 8 will be played in March. The match will be played on June 9 and 10, according to AFC.
Nepal now has three home games to play in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2023 Asian Cup in China.
Now Nepal has to play against Australia, Jordan and Chinese Taipei. Nepal has played all away and one home game.
Nepal had played the home game against Kuwait in Bhutan as Dasharath Stadium was not ready.
Nepal lost to Kuwait 7-0 in the first leg and 1-0 in the second leg. Nepal also lost 5-0 to Australia and 3-0 to Jordan.
Nepal had defeated Chinese Taipei 2-0 in the away game.
Nepal in Group B has 3 points from 5 games. Nepal is in the fourth position of the group after defeating Chinese Taipei. Australia tops the group.
Nepal, who is preparing for the selection, is on a visit to Bangladesh for a friendly match.
Nepal will play a friendly match against Bangladesh in Dhaka on November 13 and 14.
Nepal has not played against Bangladesh after the SAFF championship. Nepal had defeated
Bangladesh 2-0 in the group stage of SAFF held in Dhaka in August 2075 BS.
